Crew elections, chapter updates and more!

Greetings! It’s been a while since the last update on our website, and I wanted to share what’s happening with the Crusader in the past half year or so.

Spring

We celebrated a crew member’s wedding and took part in the annual Postal Workers’ Food Drive - an event we all enjoy each year. The Opportunity Post Office in Spokane Valley has hosted us for the past several years, and we couldn’t be more excited to return next year. Thousands of pounds of food are collected at post offices throughout the Inland Northwest as we help put food on the table for many of our friends and neighbors.

Summer

One of our crew members, Paula Scarborough, brought a new community service program to us this year: Operation Christmas Child! We’re in the middle of purchasing items that we’ll donate, and we’re accepting donations, as well. For more information on this great service, visit their website.

Our summer was rather light, which is pretty typical for Spokane! Many of us are already out with friends, traveling, or spending time with family. As such, the months of June through August tend to be a bit quieter for our group.

Nevertheless, we celebrated our 21st anniversary in fine fashion this year! We had quite the spread of food, fun games, and crew awards to recognize some great work throughout the past year.

Moving into fall…

Every two years, the Crusader holds command officer elections for the top three ranks in our group. After five years at the helm, I decided to step down and move into a different role in the Crusader. I’m excited to share that our original captain, Jennifer Thomas, was selected to lead our group for the next two years. Returning in their positions are Executive Officer Shannon Braithwait and Chief of Operations Linda Ricketts.

This next weekend we’ll be at ValleyFest, meeting members of our awesome community here in Spokane Valley. We hope to see you there!
